World dealing with the problem of climate change, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is in a unique but difficult situation. The UAE is the first country in the Gulf region to set ambitious goals for achieving net-zero emissions. This means they are not only supporting global efforts to reduce the impact of climate change but are also taking a leading role in these efforts.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, who is in charge of these initiatives and serves as the President-designate of Cop28, as well as the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, recently spoke at the annual Adipec energy conference in Abu Dhabi. He emphasized that the UAE doesn’t avoid challenges but faces them with a positive attitude and by working with partners who share similar goals to find solutions. Dr. Al Jaber is also the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE.
