International Investment Enters Saudi Fashion Brands

Consumer-focused private equity firm Turmeric Capital has made the first international investment in Saudi Arabian fashion brands. The company, based in Singapore, invested undisclosed amounts in the Saudi streetwear brand 1886 and the ethical luxury label Abadia. The deals were signed during a roadshow hosted by the Saudi Fashion Commission in New York. The financial details were not disclosed. Turmeric Capital has also entered into an agreement with the Saudi Fashion Commission to support the growth of local fashion SMEs. Saudi Arabia’s fashion industry is projected to have the largest growth rates among large, high-income markets, with retail fashion sales expected to grow by 48% to $32 billion from 2021 to 2025, according to a recent report.
