Oman Seeks to Boost Trade, Economic Ties with EU

Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, engaged in separate meetings today in Muscat with notable international figures. These discussions involved Olivier Bechet, who serves as the Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness, and French Nationals Abroad. Additionally, there were meetings with Peter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and Maria Tripodi, who holds the position of Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Italy.

These meetings took place on the sidelines of the 27th meeting of the Joint GCC-EU Ministerial Council, a significant diplomatic event.

The primary objective of these meetings was to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the European Union (EU) across a spectrum of economic, commercial, and investment domains. Participants deliberated on strategies to boost the volume of trade between the two entities, recognizing the existing trade ties that have fostered collaboration, partnership, and cross-sectoral relationships.

Furthermore, the discussions encompassed the exchange of information and investment opportunities, with the aim of enticing European investors to engage in sectors aligned with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

These gatherings were attended by officials representing both Omani and European Union (EU) interests, marking a substantial step in advancing bilateral relationships and economic prospects.
