Eight former Indian Navy personnel have been sentenced to death in Qatar for their alleged involvement in an espionage case. The Congress party is upset about this and hopes the Indian government will use its influence to help the individuals appeal their sentences and get them released soon. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is also deeply shocked by the verdict and is providing legal assistance to the Indian nationals.
