AlUla Wins Middle East’s Top Cultural Tourism Award 2023

AlUla has been honored with the Middle East’s Leading Cultural Tourism Project 2023 award at the Middle East World Travel Awards. The award recognizes AlUla’s efforts to safeguard its unique cultural and natural heritage through sustainable development initiatives.

This recognition highlights AlUla’s commitment to promoting tourism and preserving its historical legacy. Situated in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, AlUla has been a significant location on ancient trade routes and has witnessed the presence of successive civilizations, leaving behind monuments that offer insights into past ways of life.

AlUla is home to numerous archaeological and historical sites, including Hegra, the Kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Jabal Ikmah, featuring hundreds of rock inscriptions in various ancient languages. Additionally, the site was recently included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. The old city of AlUla boasts over 900 mud brick houses dating back to at least the 12th century.
