growing trend among students in the UAE is their increasing interest in courses related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analysis, and cloud computing, as discussed at the 5th edition of KT Uni Expo held at Conrad Dubai. The event brought together top educators and over 35 universities for a two-day gathering.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on the first day featured notable figures, including Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), Prof. Abhilasha Singh, Vice President of Academic Affairs at the American University in the Emirates, Dubai, UAE, and Ravi Tharoor, CEO of Khaleej Times.

Industry experts at the event emphasized that in the post-Covid era, approximately 70% of students pursuing science-related disciplines are showing a strong inclination towards courses such as data analytics and cloud computing. Aravind Arasavilli, Chairman of Exxeella Global Edu Management Consultancy, noted that students are increasingly drawn to AI and data analytics due to their relevance in businesses of all sizes. Analyzing data has become essential, as evident in platforms like Facebook and Instagram, where product analytics are crucial. He estimated that around 70% of students are now interested in computer-related courses, particularly data analytics and cloud computing, which are in high demand.

The shift toward serverless work and the need for flexibility in both employment and education are contributing to this trend. Many students are looking to pursue these courses abroad.

Notably, major companies like Wipro, TCS, and Apple are investing significantly in various universities to create programs geared towards preparing a workforce skilled in these emerging technologies.

However, experts also stressed the importance of students adapting to these new technologies and using them to enhance their strategies and improve efficiency.

Abdulmuttalib (Talib) Hashim, Managing Director of TBH Advisory, highlighted the ongoing fourth industrial revolution and the rapid changes in the job market. He advised students to stay updated with market trends, especially in areas like AI and the Metaverse, where the UAE aims to create a substantial number of jobs. Hashim urged students to think about how emerging technologies like ChatGPT are impacting fields like digital marketing and how they can position themselves effectively in response.

Additionally, experts offered guidance on how students can maximize their chances of gaining admission to their desired universities. They emphasized the importance of demonstrating genuine interest and passion for the chosen course of study, as well as the need to apply in a timely manner.

In summary, the growing interest in AI, data analytics, and cloud computing among students in the UAE was a central theme at the 5th KT Uni Expo. Experts noted the significance of these fields in the post-Covid era and encouraged students to adapt to emerging technologies while also providing guidance on university admissions. This event served as an informative platform for students, parents, and teachers to explore various educational opportunities and career paths
