The Saudi Roads General Authority showcased its sectoral strategy at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pavilion during the World Road Congress exhibition held in the Czech Republic.
The strategy is built around several key pillars:
- Safety: Emphasizing road safety for all users, including pedestrians and motorists.
- Quality: Enhancing the quality of the road network to ensure durability and efficiency.
- Traffic Density: Addressing the growing traffic density to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
- Sustainability: Focusing on the sustainability of the road sector by leveraging national expertise and promoting innovation.
The road sector strategy sets ambitious goals, including:
- Raising the road quality index to rank sixth globally.
- Reducing road fatalities to less than 8 cases per 100,000 population.
- Implementing safety factors across the road network based on the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) classification.
- Maintaining advanced service levels for road network capacity.
- Increasing private-sector participation in operational activities.
By 2030, it is projected that this strategy will contribute SR74 billion to the local gross domestic product (GDP) and create 293,000 direct and indirect jobs. This underscores the commitment to improving the road infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and its positive impact on the country’s economy and employment opportunities.
