Four Oman Sail athletes will represent Oman at the 2022 Asian Games

Four Oman Sail athletes have been chosen for Oman’s national team at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. They will compete in three sailing events, aiming to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics and gain valuable international experience.

The athletes are:

  • Waleed Al Kindi and Musab Al Hadi in the 49er class.
  • Abdul Majeed Al Hadhrami in men’s windsurfing (iQFOiL event).
  • Abdul Latif Al Qasmi in the ILCA 4 category.

Leading the delegation is Hashim Al Rashdi, Oman Sail’s Head of Performance, with assistance from Munther Al Kindi, the specialist coach for ILCA 4.

Hashim Al Rashdi mentioned that Olympic qualification in Men’s Windsurfing is a key goal for Oman Sail, and they are also focused on strong performances in the 49er and ILCA 4 events.

The competition will be held from September 21 to 27, 2023, at the Ningbo Sailing Centre. Abdul Majeed Al Hadhrami has the opportunity to secure Olympic qualification in the iQFOiL competition. Oman will be represented in seven sports at the 2022 Asian Games, which were postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will offer Paris 2024 Olympic quota berths.
