A “Reclaim the Night” march took place in Grimsby as part of a campaign to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. The event, organized by Labour Councillors Emma Clough and Sophia Farren, marked North East Lincolnshire’s first march of this kind. The councillors, representing the Heneage and Sidney Sussex Wards, invited the community to join them in a show of strength and solidarity, emphasizing that everyone deserves to feel safe in public spaces at all times.

As per the Leaders team sources, the march, which was part of a national 16-day campaign against domestic violence, aimed to make a statement about the importance of women’s safety and encourage collective action for change. Participants gathered at the Bargate entrance of the Grimsby Institute and marched toward the Riverhead, with the route taking about thirty minutes.

The event highlighted that women’s safety is a shared responsibility and underscored the need for stronger community involvement to ensure safer public spaces. Organizers believe that by marching together, they can start to foster change in the community.
