The 2nd International Conference titled Right of Return: Provision of Justice for Azerbaijanis Forcibly Removed from Armenia officially opened today, uniting global experts and dignitaries to address the rights of displaced Azerbaijani communities. Organized by the Western Azerbaijani Community, the two-day event is a platform for fostering dialogue and advocacy on this critical issue.

According to Leaders of Asia, the conference has drawn high-profile participants from 51 countries, including representatives from Turkey, the USA, the UK, Russia, Germany, Pakistan, Indonesia, Canada, and many others. A total of 101 international delegates, encompassing parliamentarians, academics, diplomats, and human rights advocates, are contributing to the discussions.

Prominent attendees include 11 members of parliament from seven countries, a presidential advisor, a vice-presidential advisor, a former minister, two former ambassadors, and 24 professors from renowned universities across 17 nations. In addition, 20 research institutions, 12 international research institute leaders, three government council members, eight legal experts, and representatives of 25 accredited diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan are present.

As per the Leaders of Asia sources, a significant highlight of the event was the recognition of 16 individuals from 10 countries with honorary membership in the Western Azerbaijani Community, underscoring their dedication to advancing the cause of justice for displaced Azerbaijanis.

The conference took place on December 5, a date commemorating the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis between 1987 and 1991. Last year, a similar event gathered over 100 delegates from 44 countries under the theme Securing the Safe and Dignified Return of Azerbaijanis Displaced from Armenia: Global Context and Fair Solution.

This year’s conference, attended by 210 participants including prominent figures from Azerbaijan’s socio-political and academic sectors, seeks to strengthen international collaboration and devise practical solutions for ensuring justice and the dignified return of displaced Azerbaijani communities.
