Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, urged Arab environment ministers to actively participate in the upcoming #COP28UAE conference. She wants them to join efforts to help the world become more sustainable. She made this call while attending the 34th CAMRE meeting in Muscat, Oman.
She said, “We are excited to take part in the discussions at COP28 and move from making promises to actually putting plans into action. We want to address the issue of global warming and work on projects that switch us to cleaner energy systems. Our goal is also to help all countries, especially those still developing, to access the technology and funding needed to achieve this.”
She stressed that the UAE will play a vital role in hosting COP28, making sure the voices of developing countries, especially from the Arab region, are heard. This is all in the pursuit of a sustainable future for our people.
Furthermore, Mariam called on Arab environment ministers to support the UAE Declaration on Food Systems and Agriculture and Climate Action. She asked for their help in getting leaders in the region to sign this declaration.
