Tens of thousands of Icelandic women, including the country’s female prime minister, participated in a nationwide protest on Tuesday against gender inequality and sexual violence. This strike, billed as the largest women’s strike in decades, involved women ceasing all paid and unpaid work, including domestic tasks, for the day. They carried banners with slogans such as “You call this equality?” to raise awareness of gender-related issues.
