PTA Ensures Stable Internet Despite Global Submarine Cable Fault

As per the reports of Leaders team, the issue, which surfaced on January 2, 2025, near Qatar, involves one of the seven undersea cables that connect Pakistan to international internet traffic.

In a press release on Saturday, the PTA stated, “To address the issue of degradation of internet services due to the fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable, ad hoc bandwidth has been arranged and added to the system.” The authority affirmed its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted internet connectivity and is actively monitoring restoration efforts for the affected cable.

Temporary Slowdowns Addressed

While the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed the cable outage on Friday, it noted that users might experience slower browsing speeds. PTCL stated on X (formerly Twitter), “Teams are working diligently to resolve the matter as soon as possible.”

According to the sources of Leaders team, the PTA also acknowledged that the cable fault near Qatar could temporarily impact internet and broadband experiences but assured users that all necessary measures were in place to minimize disruptions.

The PTA emphasized its proactive approach to ensuring stability during this period, noting that repair and restoration efforts for the submarine cable are underway. “PTA is committed to ensuring that all services remain stable during this period,” a spokesperson said.
