A wide-reaching cucumber recall has been issued after 68 reported cases of Salmonella infections across the U.S. and Canada. Health authorities are urging consumers to check their refrigerators for contaminated cucumbers, which were distributed in bulk between October 12 and November 26.
As per the Leaders Asia sources, the cucumbers, grown in Sonora, Mexico, and distributed by SunFed Produce, were sold in several U.S. states, including California, Florida, and Texas, as well as in Canadian provinces like Alberta and Ontario. Affected products were labeled with the brand “SunFed” or generic packaging with a grower’s name, Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.
The recall follows a spike in Salmonella Typhimurium cases, with 68 people in 19 states affected. Of those, 18 have been hospitalized. The CDC warns consumers to dispose of any cucumbers with “SunFed Mexico” stickers and sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with them.
