New Delhi has announced the expulsion of a Canadian diplomat, responding to Canada’s decision to ask an Indian official to leave their country. This diplomatic exchange stems from Canada’s assertion of a “potential” Indian connection to the killing of a Khalistani separatist leader in June.
The Canadian High Commissioner to India was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and was informed about India’s decision to expel the senior Canadian diplomat.
India strongly rejected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegation that it was involved in the June killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, dismissing it as “absurd” and “motivated.”
This response from India came after Canada expelled a senior Indian diplomat following Trudeau’s claim that Indian authorities may have had ties to the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, whom India had designated as a wanted terrorist. Nijjar was killed on June 18 in Surrey.
