The Pakistan cricket team, also known as the Green Shirts, has made five changes in their lineup for the Super 4 clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
Despite facing multiple injuries, Pakistan has revealed its playing XI for the Super 4 stage match against Sri Lanka, set to take place tomorrow (Thursday). The team has made five changes for this crucial encounter. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared the lineup on their official X handle, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan’s cricket team, the Men in Green, has implemented changes to both their batting and bowling lineups for the upcoming match. In the batting department, Mohammad Haris has replaced the out-of-form Fakhar Zaman, and Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Nawaz are also included in the playing XI, with Salman Ali Agha and Faheem Ashraf given a rest for the match tomorrow.
On the bowling front, Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Zaman Khan have been brought in to replace the injured Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, who sustained injuries during the previous match against arch-rivals India.
In unfortunate news for Pakistan, three of their players, namely Salman Ali Agha, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf, sustained injuries during their recent game against India. Consequently, Pakistan had to make some changes and brought in Zaman Khan and Shahnawaz Dahani as replacements.
Zaman Khan arrived in Colombo earlier today and has already joined the team. He is set to make his international debut in the 50-over format.
As for Shahnawaz Dahani, he is scheduled to depart for Colombo tonight and is expected to arrive tomorrow.
Pakistan’s upcoming match against Sri Lanka has become a must-win situation for the Men in Green, especially after their significant 228-run defeat against India. This loss has left Pakistan with a net run rate (NRR) standing at -1.892.
The Men in Green and the Lankan Tigers will face off in a crucial match on September 14th, with the winner earning a spot in the final. India has already secured their place in the final with four points in the Super Four stage. Meanwhile, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have accumulated two points each.
It’s worth noting that Sri Lanka holds a slightly better NRR at -0.2 compared to Pakistan. This means that in the event of a match being abandoned due to rain, Sri Lanka would advance to the finals based on their NRR.
Here’s the expected Playing XI for Pakistan:
– Mohammad Haris
– Imam-ul-Haq
– Babar Azam (c)
– Mohammad Rizwan (wk)
– Saud Shakeel
– Iftikhar Ahmed
– Shadab Khan (vc)
– Mohammad Nawaz
– Shaheen Afridi
– Mohammad Wasim Jnr
– Zaman Khan
Please note that this lineup is subject to change depending on team decisions and conditions.
