For the fourth consecutive year, the UAE passport has been ranked as the most powerful in the world, according to a new passport index. According to the sources of Leaders team, the ranking underscores its unmatched visa-free access to 133 countries, granting holders entry to approximately 90 percent of global destinations.
European nations dominated the rest of the top 20, with Spain, Finland, France, and Germany securing spots in the top five. Meanwhile, the UK passport experienced a significant drop, falling from 22nd to 32nd place. Despite this decline, UK citizens still enjoy visa-free access to 118 countries—just 15 fewer than UAE passport holders—but were overtaken by several nations in this year’s ranking.
As per the sources of Leaders team, other prominent entries in the top 30 included countries like Belgium, Italy, Denmark, and South Korea. Interestingly, Japan, which previously held top rankings, appeared in the latter half of the list, marking a notable shift in its position.
The UAE’s continued dominance reflects its strategic diplomacy and strong international relations, reinforcing its status as a global hub for travel, trade, and connectivity.
