“Expert in Human Rights” Program Launched to Empower National Cadres

The “Expert in Human Rights” program was officially launched on Monday, marking a significant step toward fostering expertise in human rights. The ceremony was attended by several prominent local and international officials specializing in the field.

As per the sources of Leaders, in her inaugural speech, the program’s initiator emphasized the goal of preparing and qualifying national cadres in various human rights disciplines. The initiative aims to equip participants with theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and essential personal skills to address human rights challenges effectively.

She highlighted the importance of drawing from the expertise of both local and international human rights professionals, aligning the program with the broader objectives of sustainable development and societal progress.

Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, underscored the nation’s commitment to human rights. He pointed out that the program complements broader initiatives to foster societal development and aligns with the nation’s forward-looking strategies.

According to the reports of Leaders sources, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNITAR Executive Director Nikhil Seth stressed the importance of international human rights law in building equitable societies. He praised the program’s role in strengthening national capacities, fostering awareness, and promoting justice, equality, and peace. Seth reaffirmed UNITAR’s commitment to supporting the program and highlighted its role in translating theoretical frameworks into actionable practices through international cooperation.

Alex Mejia, Director of UNITAR’s Division for People and Social Inclusion, lauded the program as a model for global adoption. He noted its potential to evolve into a Master’s program, offering a sustainable educational platform for advancing human rights understanding. Mejia emphasized that human rights are the foundation of human development, social justice, and community well-being, contributing to the creation of more inclusive societies.
