Ukraine Faces Power Outages Amid Russia’s Largest Drone Attack

Russia launched its largest drone attack on Ukraine, deploying 188 drones overnight, causing power outages in western Ukraine and damaging residential buildings near Kyiv. According to the Leaders Asia sources, Ukraine’s air force reported shooting down 76 drones, though critical infrastructure and homes sustained significant damage. In Ternopil, 70% of the region lost power due to severe damage to energy facilities.

Meanwhile, Russia intensified its offensive along Ukraine’s eastern frontline and vowed retaliation for recent Ukrainian strikes using U.S.-supplied long-range missiles. Moscow acknowledged damage to its military assets, including an airbase in the Kursk region, following these strikes. As per the source of Leaders Asia, in Kursk, a British national, James Scott Rhys Anderson, was captured by Russian forces. Accused of serious crimes, Anderson allegedly participated in Ukraine’s military activities near the Russian border. The UK Foreign Secretary stated efforts were underway to assist him.

The ongoing conflict has drawn further international attention. Britain recently delivered Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, reinforcing its offensive capabilities. Moscow condemned these moves as intensifying tensions, with President Putin framing them as acts of war, even hinting at nuclear options.

NATO allies remain focused on supporting Ukraine amid concerns over potential shifts in U.S. policy once Donald Trump assumes office. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized the need for increased military support and heightened arms production to counter Russia’s use of external support, including weapons from North Korea and Iranian drones.
